Education Activities and
Excursions

At Bunbury Dolphin Discovery (BDD) we provide
curriculum-focused educational activities and field based learning
in marine and environmental studies.
Located 2½ hours south of Perth on the foreshore of
Koombana Bay in Bunbury, BDD is surrounded by a diverse range of
marine and coastal habitats including the Indian Ocean, Koombana
Bay, the Leschenault Estuary, the Leschenault Inlet and the
mangroves. Each habitat represents a unique natural resource and
offers an ideal opportunity for learning. In consultation
with the WA Department of Education and Training, BDD has created
an educational science-based program for 2007/2008. The program
activities include:
- Dolphins and their Environment (BDD, Theatre and
Beach)
- Key Learning Area: Science, Society and
Environment
- Other Learning Areas: Mathematics, The Arts.
- Duration: 60 - 90 minutes
- What’s in the Mud (Mangrove Forest Excursion)
- Key Learning Area: Science, Society and
Environment
- Other Learning Areas: Mathematics, The Arts.
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Everything Marine (BDD and the Mangrove Forest
Combined)
- Duration: 120 minutes
- Boats, Biology and the Bay (Naturaliste Charters Boat
Cruise)
- Key Learning Area: Environmental Science
Mathematics
- Duration: 60 - 90 minutes (weather dependant)
